Located at 225 Baker Street downtown, the Atlanta Aquarium has an attached parking garage, and parking is $8.00. Coat check is $1.00. The phone number for the Atlanta Aquarium is 404-581-4000. The Atlanta Aquarium is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am till 6:00 pm, and on weekends from 8:00 am till 6:00 pm. Lines for tickets during the weekend are about 30 minutes long, and about 5 minutes long on the weekdays. One hour behind-the-scenes tours are available for $50.00. There is gift-shop, a 3-D theater with special effects ($5.50, or $4.50 for kids under 12), and a cafe, in addition to the exhibits.

Attractions at the Atlanta Aquarium The most popular attraction at the Atlanta Aquarium are the two shark whales named Ralph and Norton. The aquarium also holds five beluga whales, two of which were rescued from a Mexican amusement park where they were being mistreated. Touch tanks at Georgia Explorer exhibit are popular with children, and visitors can view river fish above and around them in River Scout. Tropical divers shows live coral and the fish of reefs, while the the Ocean Voyager features the vast majority of the fish at the Atlanta Aquarium. The Cold Water Quest presents fish and animals from the poles. There is also a 50-foot trawler for kids to play on. The Ocean's Ballroom, a banquet hall featuring food by Wolfgang Puck, is also available for rent for wedding receptions and business events, for 1000 to 2000 guests. |
